Methodology

Our first step in any assignment involves comprehensive discussions with the client to gain a thorough understanding of the role and its context. At this stage we may also provide advice on such issues as job definition, candidate specification and remuneration package.

Following these meetings, we prepare a detailed brief for the client's approval.This brief contains information about the organisation, the objectives of the role, the job description, the candidate specification and the rewards package.These sections will also be used to brief candidates prior to attending an initial interview, and also to brief researchers in the case of a search assignment. It also includes our recommendation as to the best method of sourcing candidates - by search, advertised selection or, in some instances, a combination of the two.

The process includes:

  • If advertising, the provision of media advice, advertising copy writing and placement in the media, including relevant websites.
  • If searching, we will identify and agree target companies and candidates.We use experienced researchers during this phase, which involves careful approaches to potential candidates to maximise their interest.
  • Conducting structured initial interviews with relevant candidates.
  • Presenting the shortlist to the client, together with detailed critical assessments of the candidates, and the results of any psychometric tests undertaken.
  • Assisting with offer negotiations, reference and qualification checks, if requested to do so.
  • Throughout the assignment, keeping the clients and candidates informed of progress, and being responsive to timescales.
  • After completion, following up with the client and the appointed candidate at six month and one year intervals.

In an evolving market the above process is a guideline or preference but we at Regent recognise that assignments are unique so our methods must always be bespoke. We have included some case studies, which demonstrate situations where we have tailored our approach and therefore clearly added value for our clients.
