This is a key Lisbon headquarters position as Galp Energia extends its worldwide oil and gas assets. Reporting to the E&P General Manager, the Exploration Manager’s main responsibilities will be to:

• Manage the Exploration Department, including Geophysics and Geology sections
• Ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency in the identification, appraisal and development (leading up to the production phase) of both existing sites and new exploration ventures
• Maintain and enhance excellent cooperative relationships with Galp Energia business partners in Portugal and overseas
• Support, motivate and develop the Exploration team in Portugal and in the field
• Maintain senior management closely informed, with regular effective reporting, of all developments and trends.
• Liaise with and support production areas (Engineering) in preparatory phases of development

Essential

• Degree and Post Graduate qualification (probably Masters) in Geology or other relevant geosciences discipline.
• Strong analytical skills
• Minimum 15 years relevant experience in different basins and petroleum systems.
• At least 5 years team leadership experience.
• Excellent leadership and communications skills.
• Availability for extensive overseas travel.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Complete familiarity with the most commonly used oil industry IT platforms and applications.

Desirable

• Experience in a similar role.
• Good level of spoken Portuguese.
• Experience in training junior geoscientists.

The remuneration package will be negotiable to attract the best candidate and will include a motivational performance based variable element, expensed car and health insurance.
